Description and Geology

The Ooraminna 1 well was drilled in 1963 to test 350 metres of mapped closure of the large Ooraminna surface anticline.  While drilling the well, an uncommercial flow of methane gas was recorded in the Neoproterozoic Pioneer Sandstone. A second well with deviated trajectory was drilled by Central in 2010 and flowed gas at 150 Mcfd at around 2,000 metres sub-surface. Gas was also observed in the shallower Arumbera Sandstone between 470 and 520 metres.
